Studio Bee derives it name from the philosophy of the bumble bee. Through research the bumble bee has been determined to be aerodynamically unsound, and theoretically unable to fly, but it does. Fortunately the bumble bee isn't influenced by all those negative reports and flies about its business as it was intended to do. We build off that principle and teach that with a positive mental attitude, a lot of hard work, and a few helping people guiding and facilitating an individual, that individual can bee what he or she wants to be. |

In December, 1999 G.E.M. Ministries received a $106,000 grant from the Warrick County Community Foundation and Lilly Endowment, Inc. to construct a youth center called "Studio Bee" in Boonville. The community center opened in January 2001. The 9600 square foot facility contains a game room, diner, two classrooms, kitchen, office space and a gymnasium. In 2009 alone 5,505 people have made use of the services offered at Studio Bee.
Studio Bee's objective is to provide a place for youth to excel physically, mentally, spiritually and socially. One of the ways this is accomplished is by providing a safe place for children, who would otherwise be unsupervised, to hang out after school to play air hockey, pool, foosball, ping-pong, a board game or just be with friends. Studio Bee also provides tutoring, open gym basketball time and community service projects for youth to be involved.
Here at Studio Bee we have been hard at work all year...and we would like to announce that with the help of our volunteers, the Bee served OVER 6000 STUDENTS in the last year! |
